SHEET MUSIC PROCEDURES - REVISED
The Sheet Music Collection is a reference collection and has been designated as such in the HPL catalog.
We have a new plan for patrons looking at sheet music, which will no longer be checked out. We will also no longer send copies to branches for checkout.
Like all reference items in stacks, patrons can request sheet music from the third floor reference desk. As we begin this new procedure, please note on your stacks request to send the sheet music to the third floor.
When it arrives, we will put it in Telephone Reference in the red wire basket there. A clipboard signout sheet (like the one used for locked case materials on the second floor) will be kept next to the red basket in TR.
We will fill out the information and clip the patron’s driver’s license to the clipboard. As soon as this is done the sheet music may be handed to the patron.
For the safety and health of the sheet music please hand over copies whenever possible to the patron. If the original is old and fragile please make a photocopy to hand to the patron. Most of the collection is out of print and irreplaceable. Please return the sheet music in the Musi-Dex Filing System Envelope and return it to stacks.
Adhering to this procedure should help protect our sheet music collection.
Note: We do not mail, fax, or lend sheet music from this collection.
